21 months old!!!! Today

Today Jacob turned 21 months old!!! Wow! I haven't written the blog in a while- started school and most of my nights have been filled with that. Aside from that, Jacob is growing so fast. We went to the doctor a couple of weeks ago and he is 33 3/4 inches tall (puts him in the 95% for height) and 28 lbs (which places him in the 60% height). He knows all of his letters of the alphabet (in random order), knows most of his colors, can count to 10 (and a bit beyond), loves to sing, play with friends (still working on the sharing part), and boy oh boy he can talk. Jacob is conversing in full sentences both in Polish and English-- intermixing the two in some cases. Its funny that he leaves the room and says "Be right back." He still loves playing his guitar (otherwise known as ukulele.) A few days he has been singing "Kuba is a boy, Daddy is a boy, Mommy is a boy--> We say NO and he corrects himself "Mommy is a girl". We've been having some beautiful 60 degree days and we have been outside often. Jacob's favorite part is climbing the structures at the playground. He can climb the ladder all by himself and without help go down the slide. He is such a big guy now. He loves to make cakes with me and go on the train with Daddy. Every Saturday we have been taking Jacob to drumming school and he absolutely loves that. Needless to say we have been very busy and happy.

18 months old!!!

Jacob turned 18 months old- yesterday! He is such a big boy now-- perhaps due to a fabulous new haircut. My friend Jacqueline came over and gave him a new do-- a Mohawk. Jacob is talking quite a bit now. He repeats everything that we say and is starting to combine more two and three word sentences. He will say "Mommy siadaj"(sit dow), "Dziadzius nie ma buty" (grandpa doesn't have shoes), "Daddy spi" (sleeping) or "Daddy w pracy" (at work) - whenever Daddy is not there to play or read him a story, "Daj playdough" (give me), "Mommy daj reke" (give me your hand), "tutaj" (here). Kuba can answer four questions; "what is your name?"- response Kuba, "how old are you?" - response one, and "where do you live?"-response "boston". Also, we taught him "who is the U.S. president?"- response "Obama". Jacob knows all the entire alphabet- in random order. Now he is eagerly learning colors. It's great! He understands simple commands and and is very helpful around the house (in his own non-helpful cute way:) Jacob is into projects now- he is quiet the artist- painting, drawing, playdough. He will actually sit at the table for extended period of time (30 min) and be completely occupied. It's enough time for me to make some dinner.
A few days ago I had a Christmas Party for the Kids at my place. I didn't even have a chance to take any pics- yeah I know:( The kids had such a fantastic time. We have a beautiful Christmas Tree standing at 6 feet tall with all of the glass ornaments. Jacob is interested in the tree but has
not taken all of the ornaments down-- only the low hanging unbreakable ones.
We have done so much this month that it's hard to remember it all. We went to see Santa at St. Brendan's Church on Dec 7th-- well it didn't go over so well-- Jacob was clinging to me and cried. Babcia came with us and was able to take a few pictures. So, the consensus is that he does not like the white haired dude. He liked his present though -- car tracks and changeable cars.
We have been to playgroups at the library, craft workshops, stellabella toy singalong, a puppet show at the Brookline puppet showplace theater with Danielle and Thomas, sledding with Adrian and Izabelle, and lots and lots of Christmas shopping. Most of the time we dropped Kuba off at Babcia and Dziadzio and went shopping on our own. He usually gives us a big kiss goodbye and says "bye Mommy" "bye Daddy" and he off to get his toys.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today it was Jacob's second Thanksgiving. Last year he ate his first meal and this year he had turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and turnip. Auntie Karen was the hostess of the Thanksgiving meal. The entire Mannix family was there and it was great to see everyone and meet the new member of the family baby Patrick (so cute!). Grandma Marjorie arrived Tuesday night and we are so happy to spend time with her. Jacob enjoyed playing with Grandma, Julie, Tommy, Karen, Holly, and Cal. He wanted to pick up baby Patrick until he realized that he was real. He enjoyed playing the piano (even though the cover fell on his finger). He liked riding Nanny's Porshe around the kitchen. The only thing that he did not like so much were the dogs (when they got too close). Jacob is such a big boy now and so incredibly funny. Scottie taught him "what does Jack say?" and Jacob responds "vote for me" (inside joke:)).

We are so thankful to have such a beautiful, supportive, and loving families.
