Dowidzenia Paulina

Today my cousin Paulina left to go back to Poland. We will miss her a lot! We hope that she comes back next summer. Jacob got really sad when she was leaving and cried a little.

We went to the MGH Mommy and Baby group today. J.J. enjoyed observing other children and he was very talkative today cooing and gooing. I have dressed him in the sneaker sox and he received many, many complements on them. He has great style. Also, the curl on top of his head has been a trend setter and envy of all the babies.

We visited Gram and Auntie Julie in the afternoon. In the evening, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to say goodbye to Paulina. Then we hung around until it was time to go home, take a bath, and go to bed.

Tongue!

~A Tribute to Jacob's Tongue~

"Pay attention everyone this is how you do it"

St. Brendan's Group

After an exhausting night we slept in today until 9 a.m. This morning we went to St. Brendan's Mommy and Baby group. We had circle time with music, story time and dancing. There were three women with infants, one pregnant woman, and others with toddlers. Jacob was happy as can be kicking, waving his arms, and chewing on the Biorn Carrier (of course). After all of that stimulation he was thoroughly exhausted and took a long nap in his crib. Yeah!
The weather was much better today so we (the baby, the Babe, a billion bugs and I) went out for a walk. The poop bag came in handy at swapping bugs until it was used for its purpose. So, we just made it around the block.
The rest of the day we were busy playing. Jacob was showing off his moves for Daddy which mainly included rolling over from back to stomach (with little assistance). Also, he has been working on his one pack trying to sit up. It's the funniest thing and we have to catch it on video.

Poor little guy

J.J. is TEETHING!

It was another rainy day and we managed to take a walk when it occasionally stopped sprinkling. We've played all day at home. Scottie grilled a fantastic dinner tonight and we ate at Grams, who made a delicious apple pie.
Tonight we have struggled for over an hour with soothing J.J. to bed. It has been the first time that we've had a hard time putting him to sleep (I totally jinxed us). All day he gummed everything he could get his little mouth on. Scottie and I gave him a cool washcloth to munch on and that seemed to help a little. Finally after bouncing on the bed (oh boy, my legs will hurt tomorrow) he fell asleep.

I wonder when his choppers will emerge...

Cute Face

September 26

Adrian's Birthday Party

This morning we had Alicia (Scottie's cousin) over to take proffesional photographs of Jacob. She took my maternity pictures and they turned out fantastic! Oh boy, I was huge! Later in the afternoon we went to Adrian's (our nephew) birthday party. Jacob is a little party animal. He loved being passed around, flirted with all of the girls, and got soooo many kisses. They just couldn't resist his cute face!

Rain, rain, go away...

We stayed home all day today, thus it may explain why Jacob was sooo grumpy and restless. At one point I had him in the carrier and we stood at the doorway and watched the rain.
Another explanation for the grumpiness might be itchy gums. Jacob is trying to eat everything in sight as shown below.

New Outfits

When I was pregnant everyone said "you better get your sleep now" and then they laughed and laughed. They were right. You don't know sleep deprivation until you have a newborn. Yet, everyone also mentioned that "things get easier". They are right. Jacob is falling into a daily rhythm. The nighttime ritual of bath, hugs & kisses, nursing, and swaddle puts him down usually for a stretch of six hours. We finally feel rested. But before I jinx us further (have to knock on wood, spit over my shoulder, reverse the curse)...we had a great day today. Lots of play, a couple of walks outside, a visit from Kate and Stuart, and a trip to Grandmas and Grandpas. Kate and Stuart brought J.J. lots of clothes. We are so grateful especially considering that J.J. is in 6-9 month clothes right now (The Moose is on the Loose). I am really excited about the Red Sox pjs! I have a very cute picture of Stuart and Timmy wearing them :)

Playdate

~Ready to go outside~

Jacob and I spent most of today outside. The weather was absolutely beautiful! In the morning J.J. enjoyed his play gym, swung on the swing, and listened to some music (Joshua Radin's harmonies are very soothing). Then he was very grumpy around noon, so we went out for a long stroll to the park and he fell sound asleep. We have spent some time with Gram early in the afternoon. After lunch we went out to see Danielle and Thomas. Danielle showed us a new playground that we might visit when J.J. is a bit older. On the way home I was telling Danielle that one of the little girls at the "Mommy and Baby" group had the cutest sox that looked like shoes and how much I wanted to purchase a "boy version" of those for Jacob. It's one of those items that only specialty stores supply. Danielle wanted to purchase some flowers so we stopped at the Cedar Grove Gardens by my home. As we stepped inside the shop, one of the clerks greeted us and was saying hello to Thomas and Jacob. She held a box in her hand, which she opened to show us "the cutest sneaker sox". What do you say about that? Danielle and I looked at each other with amazement. We ended up purchasing 3 pairs of sox each for our boys:)

Mommy and Baby

Today we went to our first "Mommy and Baby" support group at MGH. We had a nice time and have met lots of little babies. When we arrived, I had to immediately change and wash Jacob from his chest to his toes. Why? Because he did a massive poop that covered his onesie, pants, sweater, and sox (only the hat was speared). He earned his nickname "the naked boy" within the first 5 min. After the group we all went out to lunch. I had a good time swapping baby stories. On the way home, Jacob was wiped and had a solid 2 hr nap. Yeah! The rest of the day we went for 2 walks around the neighborhood and during the evening we went to visit Grandma and Grandpa. What an adventurous day!

SEPTEMBER

We have had a very interesting month of September thus far. Jacob has learned how to grab toys thus he can occupy himself for a few minutes. He has discovered his tongue and has been sticking it out all the time! He brings his hands together and enjoys suckling his fists, which greatly increased his supply of drool. He has good head control and would rather lay on his belly, sit, or stand (with our help of course) than lay down on his back. In addition, he has noticed the Babe (our dog) a few days ago and what is more surprising, he has developed "stranger anxiety". Let's hope that goes away soon! He is 3 months now, weights over 16 pounds and is 26 inches tall, which places him in the 97 percentile for both height and weight within his age group. He is growing up sooo fast.

This blog is still “a work in progress” :) which explains the incomplete entries.
