Happy Halloween

~Spiderboy~ ~Jacob and his Furry Friends~
Jacob has been such a party animal this week. Today we went to Next Step Baby Group Halloween Special and Jacob was fascinated with all of the costumes. Jacob was the Busy (or Hungry) Spider, Lily was the Caterpillar, Isha was the Black Cat, Ezekiel was the Puppy Dog, and Max was the Tigger. Everyone looked spectacular in their costumes. Even the teacher Nancy looked very festive. Since none of the kids can enjoy candy yet, Jacob gave everyone a Sandra Boyton book in replacement of a traditional Halloween "goodie bag". They loved it. All the mom's practically blinded their kids with a million flashes from taking so many pictures. Jacob and I are still away from home. The inspector came today and took dust samples to be analyzed for led. We should know by tomorrow if we passed or failed. Anyway, later at night we went to another Halloween Party with Adrian the Star Wars dude (I don't know which one), Izabelle the Leopard, Veronica as Hanna Montana, Gabriela the Little Mermaid, Patrick as the Spiderman, and Olek as Robin Hood (loved the hat). Daddy carried Jacob in the BabyBiorn and scored some candy. Yummy! It was JJ's first time trick-or-treating. On the way home he was exhausted, so we skipped bath tonight and went straight to bed. Happy Halloween!

Circle of Friends

Today Jacob had a play date with Max and Ezekiel. When we arrive he was snoozing and missed about an hr of fun activities. However, he made it all up with his level of alertness and energy after his nap. We took some tips from Max and his selection of wonderful music. Jacob enjoyed tummy time with his friends, an exercise saucer, and Max's toys. It was another cold one today so the rest of the day we stayed home and played until bed time.

Nothing But Trouble

Jacob had a rough night and kept all of us up, including Debbie, my parent's tenant. All day he wore a shirt appropriately entitled "nothing but trouble". We had a fun filled day today--a play date with Thomas at his house. Thomas was on the move, while Jacob was pretty chill. Both have such distinctive and adorable personalities that are emering more and more each day. They took turns with jumping on Thomas' jumperoo and sitting up. They played ball, listened to music and story time, and giggled at Chico the Lion (their favorite stuffed animal). The boys were running on the same schedule today with play, eating, napping, and pooping. Jacob took a solid 2.5 hr nap snuggled in his car seat on the way home. It was chilly and windy today so we skipped our usual walk. The evening he spent playing with daddy, grandpa, grandma, and mommy.

He had a good time with Oscar the Monkey boy, Appleine the pumpkin, Andrew the Ghost, Emma the Wild Flower, Will the Bee, and his fellow Spiderman Harry. Jacob was the Busy Spider:) so scary!!! He really liked to munch on one of his legs. Pictures will be comming soon.

Off the Charts

Jacob had his 4 month check-up today and as indicated by Dr. Scheff he is quote "off the charts" in both height and weight. He measures at 27 and 3/4 inches and weights in at 19.8 lbs-- proportionally distributed. Dr. Scheff says that he is in the 99 percentile as compared to other babies his age. He is a strong and energetic little guy! The doc also gave us the go ahead to giving him real food. We might wait a month before proceeding because of a number of reasons. One being the potential for allergies. Also, he is growing just fine as is. Plus, we want to do it at home in his sparkling new highchair (thank you auntie Kristin), clean bib, and video camera in hand.
Jacob also got vaccinated and basically that ruined the rest of the day. He was crying a lot and needed extra cuddles and a dose of Tylenol for pain. It took a tool on mommy as well. After a long walk, both of us snuggled and snoozed away late afternoon, follwed by another walk with daddy, and playtime with grandpa.

Sucking the Paci?

Jacob has been waking up every two hrs for over two weeks now. Yesterday I bought him a new pacifier to try out. Last night I fooled him and he slept for 6 hrs without being fed. The miracle blanket is also a true miracle and Mr. Houdini has not managed to wiggle himself out yet. We'll see what tonight brings. Did I mention that the big boy is sleeping in his crib at grandma's and grandpa's. Jacob and I are still at my parents, while Scottie has been busy de-dusting the whole house. Today the weather was gorgeous so we took advantage of the outdoors. JJ, Grandpa Genio, and I went for a long walk to Wallston Beach. Jacob fell asleep on grandpa's tummy and was knocked out for almost 3hrs outside. He's been busy playing with grandma, grandpa, and daddy. Jacob has a new joke; "What does the monkey say?" with a punchline "O o o a a a a". He still loves his Jumperoo and he has been jumping a lot. He amuses himself with exploring the pitch of his voice, blowing razzberries, rolling from back to stomach, and passionately chewing his toys. He loves to be admired and vows for attention any chance he gets. We love him so much and shower him with lots of kisses.

Thursday Playdate and Friday Class

Thursday Jacob was invited to Ezekiel's home for a play date, so that's were we spent most of the afternoon. When we arrived Jacob was just waking up from his nap and had a "where the heck am I?" cry but after 5 min was all smiles. Ezekiel, Isha, and Jacob played under the play gym together, while mommies talked over peanut butter cake and lemonade (courtesy of Ezekiel's mom Elisa).
Friday, we went to the Next Step Baby Group and the kids played baby ball. Kicking a beach ball back and forth- with help from mommies of course. Jacob was the teacher's pet for the third week in a row. Mrs. Nancy was showing Jacob's tri pod sitting. Well, his attempt at the tri pod. Let's just say that mommy has quick reflexes and prevented a couple of tumbles. Jacob had an awesome time playing with his buddies Max and Ezekiel, as well as, his girls Isha and Lilly. The pics will come as soon as we return home...

Sleep over

Thanks to Gram we've had our windows replaced in our apartament. They look spectacular. Jacob and I had to move out for a few days. We came for an extended sleep over at Grandma's and Grandpa's. Jacob is having a great time here. The sleeping part has not been great though. A lot has happened within the last few days.
Today we've learned that Grandpa Scott had a terrible car accident and is currently in the hospital. Our thoughts are with him and we hope for his speedy recovery.

A Tribute to Jacob's Curl

October 22
The curl was rocking today

It was impossible to tame. Here it is casting its shadow.

New England Aquarium

We went on a field trip to the Aquarium today with our buddy Thomas and his mom Danielle. The boys were just as good as can be, all smiles all day.

Many of you may not know that our 5th family member is our cat. He generally spends his days in the invisible land. Lately he has been a real rascal!

Weekend - 4 months old!!!

~Chuggin' along~
We have had a quiet weekend. Jacob is still under the weather, sneezing all day long. We have a full nightly ritual to get rid of his cold. Saturday we've spent most of the day at grandma and grandpa's playing around. We celebrated his 4 month birthday! On Sunday we went to Babies R Us to equip Jacob for the New England Weather and at night we watched the Red Sox. They lost and their season is over. Jacob is bummed!

Peace, Love, and Happiness

~Mr. Love~
"Look at me"
Jacob and Max are showing off for their girl Isha
~Ready for bed~
We went to the Next Step Baby Group today. Jacob was sleeping when we arrived but woke up just in time for the music, story time, and parachute (his favorite). He played with his buddy Max most of the class today, while mommy babbled away the afternoon. He was exhausted after class and fell asleep just as I was pulling out of the parking lot. He is still under the weather. We went for a short walk and played with intermittent nap times. Everyone has been raving about a “miracle swaddle blanket “(it's apparently wiggle proof), so I purchased one at Isis maternity today. We will try it out for a week and collect data in the process. I wonder if it's JJ proof.

Here is the season....to catch a cold

Jacob saw the doctor this morning and sure enough he has a very mild cold. The doc examined his lungs (clear), his ears (clear) and throat (a little irritated) and gave some common sense advice. We found out that Jacob weighs a backbreaking (for mommy) 19 lbs!!! He is currently sporting 6-9 month clothes.

After the doctors Thomas came over to play and we've learned that his second tooth is about to break through. Danielle treated me to a goodie from the Irish Bakery and we went to the Cedar Grove Cemetery for a long walk. We admired the autumn trees which are just at their peak with color and the boys slept so soundly.

When we came home Jacob had a waiting surprise from Daddy. His own Jumperoo!!! Daddy put it together in the late afternoon and the fun time begun. Jacob doesn't know how to jump yet, however, he has been playing with the toys.

Going for a ride

Lion, Giraffe, Leopard, and the Red Sox

~Welcome to the Jungle~
Today we went to an MGH group and Jacob was styling in his new outfit and the Lion sox. We found out that Jacob has the same Halloween costume as two of his classmates. No wonder because it's too cute. You'll just have to wait and see. On the way back, mommy got completely distracted and we drove aimlessly around Watertown and Newton- lost. Thank God Jacob was totally oblivious, snoring in the backseat. The snoring is a little troublesome and we might see the doc tomorrow. We suspect he might have his first cold due to exposure to too many kisses! Jacob took a three hour nap and we went to visit his grandparents. He enjoyed pulling grandmas' hair and watching the Red Sox game with Grandpa. Unfortunately all of JJ's screeching and production of extra drool did no good, because the Sox lost miserably. He expressed (with his eyebrows) that they can do better than that.

Happy Birthday Stuart!

Today our little friend Stuart turned 5 years old. Poor kid had to go to the hospital because of an allergic reaction to eggs. He is doing just fine now. Jacob and I went to watch Stuart's little brother Timmy. We've had a good time with T and hope to see Stuart soon.

Jacob has been trying to taste his toes for over a week now. He has been very persistent since early this morning (managing to grab a sock) and finally after a bath he has been successful at sucking his big toe!!! Hurray JJ!!!
