St. Brendan's Playgroup (Matthew, Ronan, and Jacob)
Hey Matthew, can I have a bite of that sheep?
We've had an awesome adventurous month of February. Jacob enjoyed St. Brendan's playgroup, a couple of kid concerts, hanging out at Max's house, having Matthew and Thomas over, going to Kids Fun Stop, playing at Grandma and Grandpas' and Nanny's house.

Where is the ball?

Jacob has been saying ball constantly. Well, it actually sounds more like "baul" with a weird Polish-Bostonian accent. Today we went to Grandma and Grandpas and Jacob has been pointing (accurately) to various "where is" questions. He is sooo cute. Also, he gives lots and lots of hugs. He played ball with Grandpa and was chasing Grandma around the house. Sometimes he gets overly enthusiastic and bumps his head. He ate a very good lunch consisting squashcado- a mix of avocado and squash. Yesterday we went to visit Max, who has grown a tooth. Jacob had so much fun and crawled up the stairs. We are grateful not to have stairs in the house (more precisely in the main living area). He was so proud of himself!

8 months old!!!!

Jacob turned 8 months old today and we celebrated by going to the library for a playgroup and having Thomas over. Jacob is unstoppable now. He crawls so fast and loves being chased by Daddy. He is incredibly brave and is attempting walk to the side (just a few steps). He pulls himself up (on absolutely everything) and lets himself down very carefully. Also, ever since we went to the Kids Fun Stop he has been climbing on the chair, over pillows, over couch cushions, and over us. He is very proud of his new found climbing ability. Jacob has been clapping, stomping his feet, and waving bye bye. He understand lots of labels and commands in both Polish and English such as ball, kwiatek (flower), kot (cat), clock, malpka (monkey), swiatlo (light), witaminki (vitamins), nanna (Gram), Daddy, Mama, baby (lala), pic (drink), choc (come here), daj buzi (give a kiss). Recently, he has been giving juice to baby or his favorite stuffed animal- the monkey. One of his favorite books at the moment is "I love you through and through." Jacob has been using his pointer to randomly point to things in his environment. One of the breakthrough of this month is him saying "ball" appropriately. In addition, he says "dada" and "mama" (usually at night, when he is upset, or wants to be picked up), and "baba" indiscriminately. He has a stack of his favorite toys; the ball popper, the command center, beads, pop-up, shakers, and a gigantic sensory ball. Jacob enjoys spending time with his friends and always wants to do what they do. We go to many playgroups to keep the day interesting. He is a very curious child. Jacob has been a very good eater of solid food. He likes bananas, avocado, carrots, butternut squash, sweet potato, white potato, peas, pears, apples, plums, rice cereal and many two- food groups combinations. He hates jar carrots, jar sweet potato, and jar peaches, so needless to say we stopped the jar food. Jacob is a much better napper these days- he gates up around 7 and takes a long morning nap and one or two afternoon naps, but he still wakes up one or two times per night. But he always wakes up happy in the morning. Today he woke up and played managed to rock the rocking chair positioned near his crib. There was a blanket toy draped over the rocking chair and he managed to grab it and pull it into his crib. He is a little cute rascal! He giggles for peek-a-boo, weired noises, chase game, and tickles. Jacob is a big boy! We don't know how much he weighs right now or how tall he is, but we love his little chubby belly and legs. Unlike his friends, Jacob has no teeth yet. His hair is getting a lot longer and after a nice shampoo during bath his curl always reappears (then it gets flattened by the hat). He is such a wiggle boy that it's hard to get his diaper changed and get him dressed. During mealtime, he tries to be very independent (already!) and will pull the spoon out of my hand, attempt to scoop from the bowl, and place it accurately into his mouth. He is just a delight to be around-- always happy, curious, funny, and adventurous. Happy 8 month!

Kids Fun Stop

Jacob started the day very peachy. Daddy played with him early this morning (I got to sleep in :)) and gave him his first taste of peaches- very yummy. It was a beautiful 50 degree day, so we went to the playground with Matthew. Jacob went in the swing for the first time and loved it (who doesn't really?)

After Jacob took a long afternoon nap, we've met up with Danielle and Thomas and went for a big adventure to the Kids Fun Stop- an indoor playground located in West Roxbury. The boys had sooooo much fun; climbing cushion structures, going through the tunnel, riding a car and motorcycle, working at the command center, and playing ball.

Whirled Peas

We finally made it to the St. Brendan's playgroup today. Jacob sat so nicely for story time next to Matthew. He enjoyed playing with Ella. He discovered a tent at the playgroup and was very thrilled going in and out of it. After the playgroup he took an hr and a half nap. We went grocery shopping and got some goodies this afternoon. He had his first tasting of peas-- and they were very yummy. Jacob teleconferenced Brady in the evening to compare notes about crawling and babbling. Oh, its a lot of work being a baby!

February

Last week we missed the St. Brendan's group on Monday because Jacob was snoozing away the early morning. He has been a much better napper lately. He is sleeping right now so I have decided to give a quick update. We've had a very cold week last week therefore most of the days we've spent at home. Jacob ate butternut squash for the first time on Tuesday and he liked it a lot. Wednesday we've had Matthew and Thomas over for a playgroup. We did songs, story time, bubbles, parachute play, and toy play. Thursday we went to Grandma and Grandpas'. On Friday-- well, I have no idea what we did Friday. We left him at Grandma and Grandpa's both days of the weekend and went to the gym. Jacob has been vocalizing "nam" which apparently means a lot of things. When asked "where is...?" question he is able to locate - dada, mama, kot, swiatlo (light), clock, and kwiatek (flower)- by looking exactly at him/her/it. Also, he is more consistent at waving "bye bye".

It's a kind of avocado day

Jacob was so happy and energetic this morning. Well, he is usually happy when he wakes up- but today he was notably excited. Last night he slept all night (8+ hr stretch) so it was fantastic. We went to Lambert's Fruit to do some grocery shopping. He took an hr and a half nap this afternoon which was awesome. It was a beautiful day (still icy but the temperature was above freezing) so we went for a long walk with the Babe. After the walk, Jacob had his lunch and he ate guacamole for the first time. Surprisingly he liked it! Throughout the day we played and played. Jacob took a tumble and got his first bloody nose-- poor baby:( He recovered very quickly. I wonder if that qualifies him to play football?
