Florida here we come!

We are officially on vacation! Yeah! We left Boston yesterday and flew to Milwaukee, where we had a 30 minute layover and then we flew to Orlando, Florida. Jacob was incredibly good! He only took two 30 min naps, but surprisingly was happy throughout the trip. We entertained him with his favorite toys; phone, bubble wand, toothbrush, magna doodle, cup and spoon. I walked with him up and down the isle. He enjoyed \ switching the overhead light,, touching the fan, and opening and closing the widow shade. Jacob was super cute - he showed off his tongue to all the passengers and played peek a boo with two guys sitting behind us. We arrived to Orlando about 1 p.m. It took us forever to get the rental car. The lady behind the counter had to tell us her life story despite the fact that the line was very long. We were going to test out the Prius but apparently we can't drop it off in a different location. So it didn't work out being that we are flying out of Tampa. So we got a brand new Kia instead-- which turned out to be an awesome ride and was able to contain 2 big suitcases, 2 small suitcases, 1 diaper bag, and an umbrella stroller (thank you Kate!). Jacob is obsessed with the stroller. He pushed it at the airport, in the hotel, around the parking lot. We have to distract him when we want to hide it to avoid the tears. We stayed at the Renaissance Inn. last night. They had a wonderful pool area with at hot tub. It was the first time that Jacob went swimming in a hot tub, which was luke warm. The water in the pool was very cold so he just walked on the edge (obviously I held his hands). We gave him a nice bath in his new inflatable tub. The hotel provided us a hospital style metal crib. I had to improvise and weave towels in between the bars to create a bumper around the crib so that he wouldn't bang his head around. I strategically place his lovees (Malpka, Elmo, and Dogie) in the corners of the crib for the same reason. He slept through the night!!! Waking up at 6:20 a.m. We went downstairs for breakfast. It was really nice to have the first pick of the buffet (instead of the leftovers close to noon). Jacob had an oatmeal and peaches (from Daddy's buffet order) and a cup of apple juice. I had the same. He did not want to take his morning nap today and he woke up after 5 min of being in the crib. So I took him to my bed where he ninja rolled, babbled, and nursed for about 40 min without falling asleep. We checked out promptly at 11 a.m. Across the street from our hotel they had outlet stores so we decided to stop at the Banana Republic store. Jacob was very tired and fell asleep in the car seat. So Scottie went shopping while I stayed behind propping Jacob's head until my arm went numb (literally ants and all). So I created a make shift head holder (pics to come). He woke up about 30 min later and then we all went shopping. We are very happy with our purchases. We stopped at Panera for lunch. Jacob enjoyed their chicken noodle soup. I brought the food mill with me so it is easy to just grind the meat and veggies into an edible mush. Yum, yum! Poor Daddy is the taster since I am still a vegetarian. Most of the day we have spent in the car driving to Fort Mires, making only one stop to eat and stretch our limbs. A lady from Georgia chattered our ears off about her dentures, awful news stories, weather, dead husband, and spring cleaning and the best 99 cents double cheeseburgers. It was quite strange that she was traveling with a very skinny dude with cowboy boots and one and only tooth. Never mind! We checked into a Marriott hotel around 6:30 p.m. and immediately went to the pool. Jacob just loves to swim. A group of people had a pool party and we were welcomed into their crowd. One of the ladies let him borrow a floaty. Then it was time for bed and a take out dinner for us. We are very excited to reach our final destination - Marco Island.
